Communication Teacher/SLP Assistant

Location: Boston Higashi School – Randolph, MA

Salary: $57,416 annually (entry level)

About the Role

The Communication Teacher/SLP Assistant supports students by delivering communication lessons, collaborating with teachers and speech-language pathologists, and helping develop and implement communication objectives that foster independence and success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead group communication lessons for assigned classrooms
  • Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist with social skills groups as needed
  • Collaborate with teachers and the SLP to develop IEP communication goals and individual student objectives
  • Support the implementation of communication strategies throughout the school day
  • Help design and maintain visual supports for classroom and residential environments
  • Participate in Daily Life Therapy activities including lunch support, daily routines, and transitions
  • Take part in all student activities that require physical engagement including walking, jogging up to three miles per day, standing, lifting, squatting, and hands‑on support
  • Maintain positive, professional, and confidential communication with parents, colleagues, and all individuals supporting students
  • Attend division meetings, IEP meetings, and weekly communication meetings
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by program leadership
Qualifications
  • Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders, Special Education, or a related field preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, collaborative environment
  • Comfort working in an active school environment that includes physical participation
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
