Music Teacher
Boston Higashi School is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and compassionate Music Teacher to help students build confidence, communication skills, self-expression, and independence through music.
Starting Salary: $57,416

Randolph, Massachusetts

Full-time
Music Instruction and Curriculum Development
- Design and deliver creative, individualized music instruction that supports each student’s educational and developmental goals.
- Develop a music curriculum aligned with Daily Life Therapy® principles and the broader school program.
- Provide engaging individual and group music experiences that encourage participation, confidence, communication, and self-expression.
- Adapt lessons and activities to meet a wide range of student learning styles and abilities.
- Create a safe, organized, and welcoming music environment that reflects student creativity and involvement.
Student Assessment and Collaboration
- Develop music-related assessments, IEP goals, progress reports, and other educational documentation.
- Prepare and present quarterly student progress reports.
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with teachers, specialists, administrators, and families.
- Attend division meetings, teacher meetings, professional development programs, and in-service trainings.
- Support classroom teachers and students with Daily Life Therapy® activities throughout the school day.
Performances and School Activities
- Coordinate student participation in performances, community activities, and programs such as Massachusetts Very Special Arts.
- Help plan and support school‑wide celebrations, performances, and special events.
- Serve as a member of the school’s Event Committee.
- Encourage students to share their musical talents and celebrate their accomplishments.
School Community and Professional Practice
- Maintain respectful, professional, and confidential communication with parents and caregivers.
- Work collaboratively within a multicultural and interdisciplinary school community.
- Participate actively in student programming, including movement, exercise, and other school activities.
- Continue developing knowledge of Daily Life Therapy® and current music education practices.
- Manage and order music materials, instruments, and supplies as needed.
- Follow all school policies, student rights, and applicable educational regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music, or a related field.
- Experience teaching music to children or young adults preferred.
- Experience working with students with autism, developmental differences, or diverse learning needs is helpful but not required.
- Strong musical, instructional, organizational, and communication skills.
- Creativity, flexibility, patience, and a genuine desire to help students grow.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to participate in an active school day, including standing, lifting, bending, squatting, movement activities, and jogging.
- Use your creativity and musical talents to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.
