Job Title

Head Coach, Softball

Job Summary
  • Recruitment
    • Identify potential student-athletes by attending showcases and high school games.
    • Interview potential student-athletes on campus and provide tour of academic and athletic facilities.
    • Interact frequently with Admissions and Financial Aid Offices to better direct potential student-athletes in respective processes.
    • Represent program and department by attending CCM Open Hoises, coaches meetings and department functions as assigned by Athletic Director.
  • Coaching and Training
    • Provide student-athletes with the basic education and training of the sport, teaching them maneuvers and plays relating to the position in which the player is assigned.
    • Help students develop competitive nature, teach them about ethical behavior and good sportsmanship, and assist in the development of leadership skills.
    • Set up and call offensive and defensive plays during games and manage subordinate coaches.
  • Support student‑athlete academic success by working with Academic Advisor, covering study halls, monitoring class attendance, and following up on progress reports.
  • Prepare to participate in weekends and occasional overnight games and possible National Tournaments.
  • Serve as one of the college's Campus Security Authorities, reporting to Public Safety any activities that may be considered criminal incidents.
Qualifications – Education
  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Qualifications – Experience
  • Experience with competitive playing or coaching, college‑level preferred.
  • Prefer possession of coaching experience at the high school level or above.
  • Thorough understanding of modern coaching methods, designing game plans, and assigning student athletes to appropriate positions.
  • Able to demonstrate effective recruitment techniques and assess talent of players being recruited.
  • Defensive driving course and 15‑passenger van safety course required upon acceptance of position. Must be able to operate a 15‑passenger van for away contests and, in some cases, home contests off‑site.
  • DMV and criminal history background check required. Must be in good standing according to the Morris County Risk Management Department.
  • Must have flexible schedule to be present at all practices, home and away games.
  • Must hold current AED and CPR certification.

Work Hours
  • Position obligations expected to occur between February 1st – May 15th.
  • Non‑traditional season September 1st – October 15th.
