Mechanical Inspector — Full Time. Randolph, NJ, US.

Salary Range: $26.92 to $29.81 hourly. Department:
Quality.

Reports to:

Quality Manager. FLSA Status: NON-EXEMPT.

Responsibilities
  • Performs detailed inspections on basic and intricate components, parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and materials to verify they conform to military, aerospace, industry and customer requirements, specifications, and standards.
  • Proficient in the utilization of inspection measuring instruments, maintaining records of part inspections.
  • Reviews and interprets drawings, process procedures, test procedures, and quality documents to understand the scope, requirements, and function of products.
  • Performs First Article Inspections, Product Verification and Test, and Product Lot Testing.
  • Reviews FAI reports to assure acceptance by government (DCMA) and other government agencies and aftermarket customers.
  • Inspects and submits product to be source inspected by DCMA, other government agencies and aftermarket customers.
  • Ensures product meets the organization1s and customers1 quality and product integrity requirements.
  • Sets up and operates the quality inspection center equipment.
  • Assists in identifying improvement opportunities and participates in improvement events as assigned.
  • Maintains professional level of communication both internal to the organization and externally to customers and suppliers.
  • Utilizes Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing concepts for inspections.
  • Identifies and applies reference material (material tables, sampling plans, etc.) in accordance with ASTM, ASME, MILSPEC and ANSI standards and makes sound decisions based on available information.
  • Utilizes CMM, comparator and precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to measure product dimensions and confirm compliance to specifications and standards.
  • Identifies and documents defects to facilitate final product disposition, up to and including MRB reviews as an MRB member.
  • Inspects and tests parts, subassemblies and assemblies after rework, modifications, and repairs to verify defects have been corrected.
  • Communicates regularly with the Manager to ensure contract and customer deadlines are met.
  • Maintains a professional and organized work area for cleanliness, organization, and proper location of product and materials.
  • Supports a safe work environment, uses safety equipment, and ensures safety equipment in the areas is proper, safe, and used productively.
  • Aware of the quality of work being performed and strives to meet company standards and expectations.
  • Promotes a positive culture and teamwork, motivates self and supports others to accomplish objectives in the work environment.
  • Interacts daily with the Manager and staff, contributing to achieving company and departmental goals.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and safety standards.
  • Performs other related duties and personnel backups as assigned and contributes to team effort.
Standard Requirements

Comply with all requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 27001, NIST 800-171, CMMC – Cyber Security and Information Data Security Requirements. Aerospace Management System Standards AS9100, AS9120, IDEA-QMS-9090, ASA-100 and supporting standards AS6081, IDEA-STD-1010, AC7402-CAAP, CCAP-101, FAA AC00-56, ANSI/ESD S20.20. All employees shall commit to and comply with AS5553 for Counterfeit Electrical, Electronic and Electromechanical (EEE) Parts – Avoidance, Detection, Mitigation and Disposition practices.

Education / Experience / Competency
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite:
    Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and Outlook
  • Technical Degree or related discipline is a plus
  • Five+ years of experience in an aerospace or similar inspection environment is beneficial
  • Knowledge of FAR, DFARS, DLA, DCMA regulations and clauses is beneficial
  • ISO/AS Certification awareness helpful
  • ASQ Quality Certification helpful
