Bilingual (Spanish) Teacher – Pleasant Acres 2026/27 •
Position Type:
Licensed Bilingual/ESL Teaching / Bilingual Classroom Teacher
Location:
Pleasant Acres Elementary School (Starting date: August 12, 2026)
Salary:
Minimum starting salary $56,250 for 0 years experience with Bachelor's Degree; maximum starting salary $107,890 for 31 years experience with Master's Degree plus 60 additional hours.
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree (Education) or related field. Illinois Teaching Certificate.
- Understanding and experience with curriculum design, planning and instruction.
- Strong communication skills (written and oral).
- Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students under the direction of the Building Principal/Director of Special Services/Director of Curriculum.
- Supervise students in various school settings and monitor student outcomes.
- Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
- Plan, organize and provide instruction based on Common Core State Standards.
- Administer informal and formal assessments.
- Incorporate district initiatives within instruction (adopted programs/policies).
- Evaluate and assess student progress against instructional objectives.
- Demonstrate knowledge of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessments, diagnosis, and research related to learning.
- Provide written feedback to students.
- Maintain accurate, efficient, and effective records for instructional and non‑instructional purposes.
- Manage classroom organization.
- Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community.
- Work cooperatively with administration and staff to schedule meetings.
- Participate in district‑wide and building committees related to educational and employment matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Plan and demonstrate practices that reflect knowledge of the content, prerequisite relationships between concepts, and instructional practices specific to the discipline.
- Seek knowledge of students’ backgrounds, cultures, skills, language proficiency, interests, and special needs.
- Develop instructional outcomes of appropriate rigor and alignment with Common Core Standards.
- Coordinate knowledge of content, students, and resources to design learning experiences aligned to instructional outcomes.
- Plan assessment aligned with instructional outcomes and use results to plan future instruction.
- Maintain a classroom culture of commitment to learning, student engagement, and respectful interactions.
- Ensure classroom safety and accessible learning for all students.
- Communicate instructional purpose clearly and effectively.
- Use high‑quality questions/prompts and engage all students in discussion.
- Provide regular, accurate feedback and assessment to support instruction.
- Modify lessons when needed and respond to student needs.
- Reflect on lessons and provide suggestions for improvement.
- Communicate frequently with families and engage them in instruction.
- Participate in professional development and the professional community.
- Accept and act upon feedback from supervisors and colleagues.
- Adhere to ethical standards and district regulations.
- Supervise students or assist with supervision in teaching and non‑teaching situations.
- Other duties as assigned.
