Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a contract position for the  school year. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work 35 hours per week in a collaborative educational setting, providing specialized instructional support to visually impaired students.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver individualized instruction using adapted curriculum and accessible materials for students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff to develop and implement IEPs tailored to students' unique learning needs
  • Assess students' visual functioning and educational progress, recommending appropriate accommodations and modifications
  • Instruct in the use of assistive technology, braille, tactile graphics, and low vision aids
  • Support students in developing independent living and orientation and mobility skills
  • Engage with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a cohesive approach for student success
  • Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of best practices for teaching the visually impaired

Qualifications:
  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Prior experience working in a school setting with visually impaired students preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to create and deliver differentiated lessons based on student needs
  • Familiarity with specialized instructional materials, assistive technology, and braille
