Long-Term Substitute Teacher - 5th grade bilingual teacher - Eastlawn Elementary
Position: Long-Term Substitute Teacher - 5th grade bilingual teacher
Area: Instructional
Reports to: Building Administrator
Building: Eastlawn Elementary
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Building Administrator, this position will be responsible for the instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes and perform related duties as required. This is a full‑time role for the defined dates and includes qualifying for benefits during that period.
General Qualifications- Professional Educator License or Substitute Teaching License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
- Strong communication skills (written and oral).
- Prefer previous substitute experience at Rantoul City Schools.
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Ability to provide instruction in Spanish for the entire school day.
- Fill long‑term substitute teaching needs, including lesson planning and assessing student progress.
- Attend parent‑teacher conferences, trainings, and meetings as required.
- Communicate with parents after consulting with administration.
- Supervise students in various school settings.
- Follow teacher lesson plans or create appropriate plans using available resources.
- Establish positive learning expectations for all students.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Encourage student growth, fairness, and mutual respect.
- Manage classroom organization and clean rooms at day end.
- Provide daily communication to the teacher and rate lesson plans if left.
- Modify instruction to meet student needs and work with staff, parents, and community.
- Apply contemporary teaching principles and maintain professional judgment.
- Follow district procedures for reporting self‑absences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Effectively communicate with parents, colleagues, and administration.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Use web‑based programs, e‑mail, and technology (laptop, Smart board, etc.).
- Indoor classrooms/school; exposure to student noise, lawn mowing, music, odors, and possible communicable diseases.
- Outdoor schoolyard and grounds; exposure to varying temperatures and mowed grass.
- Regular work attendance.
- $243.36 per day for length of assignment.
- Sick/personal:
Sick leave accumulates 1 sick day per continuous month worked; 0.25 personal day per month.
The duration may vary; it will be defined when a qualified teacher is available. The position will begin on August 12, 2026.
District will hire a fully‑certified teacher when possible; the term ends when placed. Advanced notice will be provided.
