Job Summary:

Assist the teacher in achieving teaching objectives by working with individual students, small groups, or whole classrooms. Provide a well‑organized, smoothly functioning class environment.

• Administer, score, and record achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of newly introduced material or skills.
• Assist in devising special strategies to reinforce material based on students’ needs, interests, and abilities.
• Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
• Assist with supervision during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
• Assist with large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
• Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in oral communication activities.
• Assist students in the library or media center.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, supervise testing, and administer make‑up work as assigned by the teacher.
• Provide assistance with students’ clothing, lunch/snack and clean‑up routines, wash‑up, and toilet routines.
• Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
• Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
• Participate in in‑service training programs as assigned.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

• Active Illinois Paraprofessional License.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• At least one year of relevant experience preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.

Position Type:
Full‑time
Salary: $16.55 – $27.67 per hour
