Location: Various projects in North Central USA
Rotation: 21 days on, 7 days off

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Document Control Lead is responsible for day-to-day execution and oversight of document control activities for a large-scale transmission construction project located in the North Central Region of the United States.
This role is the project-level authority for document control execution, ensuring that all project documentation is received, reviewed, distributed, tracked, filed, and retained in accordance with Contract requirements, corporate document control standards, and quality expectations. The Document Control Lead implements established document control practices and workflows, supports project teams in their use, and ensures documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready throughout the project lifecycle.
EssentialJob Functions
DOCUMENT CONTROL EXECUTION
- Lead and execute all document control activities for the project, including document receipt, logging, distribution, revision control, and archival
- Maintain project document registers and ensure accurate tracking of drawings, specifications, correspondence, RFIs, submittals, NCRs, and other controlled records
- Ensure only current, approved documents are available for project and field use
- Manage document numbering, naming conventions, and filing structures in accordance with approved standards
- Administer and maintain project document control systems (e.g., Procore, SharePoint, Aconex, or similar platforms)
- Ensure document metadata, revision status, and approval workflows are correctly applied and maintained
- Perform regular audits of document repositories to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project and corporate requirements
- Work closely with Project Coordinators to ensure documentation supports project reporting, change management, and controls requirements
- Interface with Quality Coordinators and Quality Management to ensure quality documentation (ITPs, inspection records, NCRs) is properly controlled and retained
- Support Construction teams by ensuring timely distribution of issued-for-construction (IFC) documents and revisions
- Act as the central point of contact for document control matters on the project
- Ensure document control practices support contractual, regulatory, and audit requirements
- Support internal and external audits by providing controlled documentation and records as required
- Coordinate document control activities related to project closeout, including turnover packages, as-built documentation, and final record archiving
- Implement corporate document control standards, templates, and workflows at the project level
- Provide feedback to the Corporate Document Control Manager on project-specific challenges, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Participate in document control reviews, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives as requested
- Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight to project document control staff or administrators, if assigned
- Support onboarding and coaching of project team members on document control procedures and expectations
- Ensure document control practices are practical, consistent, and aligned with project execution realities
Education and Experience
- Diploma or degree in a related discipline (Document Management, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or similar)
- 3–5 years of experience in document control or document management roles within construction, utilities, or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale construction projects, preferably transmission or other linear infrastructure
- Strong understanding of document lifecycle management, revision control, and quality documentation requirements
- Strong computer proficiency is mandatory, including advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Hands-on experience with document control and collaboration platforms such as Procore, SharePoint, Aconex, or similar systems
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills with the ability to manage high document volumes
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Project, Construction, Quality, Engineering, and Technical teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate independently in fast-paced, field-driven project environments
