Overview

Shape the future of healthcare professionals by joining South Dakota State University’s (SDState) College of Nursing as an Instructor or Lecturer. SDState is pursuing excellence in research and innovation under its R1 Carnegie Classification. Our state-of-the-art facilities and collaborative environment support innovative teaching and impactful research aligned with priorities to improve health outcomes, promote health for rural and underserved populations, and transform nursing and interprofessional health education.

This is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position that serves as 100% faculty for the College of Nursing. The position is supervised by the Assistant Academic Dean for Cooperative Programs and will be based at the Rapid City, South Dakota site. The College of Nursing holds a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education designation by the National League for Nursing, and the college maintains a fully accredited Healthcare Simulation Center across all sites.

Key Responsibilities

Faculty members plan, implement, and evaluate assigned courses either as an individual assignment or as a member of a teaching team.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing upon application, and a Master’s degree in Nursing completed by start date;
  • Licensed by the South Dakota Board of Nursing, or eligible for licensure as evidenced by current licensure in another state;
  • Two years of relevant clinical practice experience;
  • Evidence of effective written communication skills;
  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral preparation in Nursing or related discipline;
  • Degree education from more than one degree-granting institution;
  • Formal teaching experience in nursing; and
  • Evidence of professional service.
