Adjunct Faculty – Graduate Social Work

Graduate Social Work – to teach courses in the field of social work in-person at the Union campus. Courses may include Generalist Practice, Integrative Seminar, Human Behavior in a Social Environment and Research Methods. A master’s degree in social work is required to teach within this program.

Teach assigned courses in social work at the Union campus, including but not limited to Generalist Practice, Integrative Seminar, Human Behavior in a Social Environment, and Research Methods.

Provide at least one hour of availability outside of the classroom per week for each semester, additional 30 minutes for each additional class. Availability may be in person or virtual and scheduled by the adjunct educator. Adjuncts teaching fewer than three credits shall provide at least thirty minutes of availability per week. Adjuncts may provide additional office hours beyond the required amounts.

Master’s degree in a related field in social work or a related discipline. Teaching experience unless otherwise indicated. Candidates with ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D. or other acceptable disciplinary doctorates are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required.

Effective September 2025, the rate of pay is $2,100 per credit. Effective September 2026, the rate of pay is $2,225 per credit. Beginning in the 13th semester taught, adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit.

Adjuncts are enrolled in a state administered retirement plan, when eligible. Adjuncts may be eligible to enroll in the Part-Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.

Employment requires working at any of the New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites:
Union, Kean Ocean in Toms River, Kean Skylands in Jefferson Township, Kean Jersey City, Kean at Brookdale in Middletown Township, Manahawkin, Princeton, and Trenton. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
