Project Manager II (PM‑II)
Position in the Duke Energy Hydro Generation Department. PM‑II is responsible for managing all phases of project planning and execution, ensuring project success factors such as scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration are met. The role involves developing and executing CAPEX projects in hydro generation, including water retaining structures and hydro generation assets.
Key Responsibilities- Manage or assist in managing multiple projects, typically a portfolio of “White” or “Green” ranked projects per the Project Management Center of Excellence Risk‑Informed Project Ranking Process.
- Lead projects with low to moderate risk and support higher risk projects with an Enhanced Support and Oversight Plan (ESOP) as needed.
- Act as unified agent providing leadership, decision making, guidance, coordination, and control of overall projects per company policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables.
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related work experience.
- In lieu of degree – HS Diploma / GED with 9 years related work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Hydro generation project experience (headgates, generators, turbines, other hydro equipment or structures).
- Construction Management knowledge.
- Expertise in Project Management, Decision Making, Critical Thinking, and Problem Solving.
- Experience with Risk Management, Project Leadership, Strong Collaboration and Oversight.
- Utility Business Unit experience (regulated or commercial energy services).
- Expertise in project scheduling and cost controls.
Hybrid mobility classification: work remote and on site after onboarding. Employees are required to work 2‑3 days per week at a hydro generating facility, hydro control facility, or corporate headquarters.
Travel Requirements15‑25% travel.
