Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is responsible for the care of adult patients with a variety of diagnoses including CHF, ARF, hepatitis, ESLD, DM, DKA, pneumonia, sepsis, GI bleed, syncope, chest pain, pulmonary emboli, respiratory failure, COPD, arrhythmias, seizure disorders, overdose, and delirium tremors. The RN must provide effective verbal and written communication, thorough physical assessments, strong clinical judgment, professional bedside manner, and adaptability.
Responsibilities:
- Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, blood product administration
- Drain/tube management, indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management
- Insulin drips (both DKA and non-DKA), continuous bladder irrigation, chest tube maintenance
- Effective verbal and written communication, thorough physical assessments
- Strong clinical judgment, professional bedside manner, strong team player
- Drip titration of medications such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed
- Floating to Adult Inpatient Units as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of PCU RN experience
- BLS, ACLS certifications
- Completion of a nursing education program approved by the board of nursing
- Registered Nurse (RN) license - South Dakota Board of Nursing
- Experience in cardiac rhythm interpretation and blood product administration
- Adaptability and comfort in a team nursing environment
