Unit Details:

• Beds: 24 Pre-Op/Phase 2, 19 PACU

• Patient Types:
  Infants through geriatric (mostly adults), Endo prep/discharge, trauma, elective/ambulatory cases

• Ratios:
  Pre-Op 1:2–3 | PACU 1:1–2 | Phase 2 1:2–4 (acuity dependent)

• Float:
  Pre Op, PACU, Endo prep/discharge, Phase 2

• Orientation: 1 week rotation (Pre Op, PACU, Phase II, Endo)

• Support: CNAs, charge nurses, RT team, anesthesia/CRNA, phlebotomy/lab, resource nurses available

Scheduling:

• Options:
  
  • Days/Variable: 3x12s, shifts between 5:00 AM – 11:00 PM
  
  • Nights: 3x12s, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM (scheduled in a row)

• Call:
  Required (every 2–3 weeks, varies by shift). Response time 15 minutes. Sleep room available.

• Weekend Rotation:
  Call teams rotate every 3 weeks

• Holiday Rotation:
  On-call, 2 holidays per year required

• RTO:
  Manager approval; not permitted during first 3 weeks of August (Sturgis Bike Rally)

Requirements:

• Active RN license in South Dakota/ Compact License Accepted

• Minimum 1.5 years of PACU/critical care experience (no first-time travelers)

• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required

• EPIC EMR experience preferred (approval needed if no prior experience)

• Critical care competencies: hemodynamic drips, ventilated patients, IV insertion, blood transfusion initiation, moderate sedation monitoring, critical thinking
