Job Summary

The Report Specialist serves as a primary technical resource for Epic reporting, analytics, dashboards, Clarity reporting, SQL development, legacy-report conversion, and reporting documentation. The position develops, validates, maintains, optimizes, and supports approved reporting solutions for clinical, operational, financial, quality, regulatory, grant, and leadership needs. The role develops and recommends reporting standards and coordinates assigned reporting projects. Final governance, budget, and enterprise-priority approvals remain with authorized leadership and the applicable governing structure.

    • Provides technical guidance without exceeding delegated authority.

2. Strategic Alignment & Planning

  • Aligns reporting work with approved departmental and organizational priorities.
  • Coordinates assigned reporting projects, implementation activities, upgrades, and legacy-report conversion.
  • Recommends priorities and escalates competing, high-risk, or governance-level decisions.

3. Relative, Stakeholder & Community Satisfaction

  • Partners with clinical, operational, financial, quality, compliance, grant, IT, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Translates business needs into documented technical requirements and useful reporting solutions.
  • Trains authorized users on report access, interpretation, and appropriate use.

4. Measurement, Analysis & Knowledge Management

  • Serves as a primary technical resource for Epic reporting, Clarity, SQL, dashboards, and approved reporting tools.
  • Designs, develops, tests, validates, maintains, and optimizes reports, scorecards, dashboards, and queries.
  • Develops and recommends reporting standards, validation procedures, documentation practices, data definitions, and catalog requirements for approval.
  • Investigates discrepancies and maintains documentation for report logic, data sources, SQL code, validation, changes, and distribution.

5. Workforce Engagement & Development

  • Provides technical guidance, mentoring, and reporting education to users and assigned work groups.
  • Develops user guides, job aids, and reporting procedures.
  • Shares knowledge while maintaining a non-supervisory role.

6. Operational Excellence & Process Improvement

  • Maintains an inventory of assigned legacy reports and coordinates conversion, redesign, consolidation, or retirement.
  • Coordinates user acceptance testing and validation for assigned reporting projects.
  • Participates in Epic implementation, optimization, upgrades, testing, stabilization, and post-go-live improvement.
  • Recommends process improvements and implements approved changes.

7. Results & Accountability

  • Produces accurate, reliable, timely, and secure reporting solutions.
  • Maintains assigned reporting catalogs, data dictionaries, validation records, and change histories.
  • Supports continuity and resolves reporting issues within established standards and escalation paths.
  • Contributes to improved reporting quality, decision support, operational visibility, and regulatory readiness.

Physical Requirments

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, data review, report development, and participation in meetings.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer keyboarding, mouse use, and report development activities.
  • Frequent viewing of computer screens, spreadsheets, dashboards, and detailed data outputs.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, bend, and lift materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires close visual acuity for reviewing reports, detecting discrepancies, validating data, and interpreting detailed information.
