Position: Licensed Practical Nurse Residential Living

Job Description:

The LPN, under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified health care professional, participates in patient care commensurate to Scope of Practice. We are open to a LPN working in a full time, part time or even PRN capacity!

Scope
  • Performs basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.
  • May perform specific nursing care as it relates to specialty of the practice.
  • Collects patient data such as vital signs; notes how the patient looks and acts, or responds to stimuli, and reports this information accordingly.
  • Prepares and administers injections, performs routine tests, treats wounds, and changes bandages.
  • Prepares patient records and files using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
  • Administers medications within scope of license, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.
  • Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
  • Monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.
  • Conveys information to patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Participates in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
  • Administers medications, IV therapy, blood draws and laboratory testing and resulting.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program required.
  • Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from the state licensing board is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) is required.
  • If applicable - Must have additional specialty certifications.
  • May need IV.
Preferred
  • One (1) year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting.
  • One (1) year Specialty clinic experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing processes, understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies.
  • Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.
  • Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and frequently interact with patient care providers, patients, and visitors.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients and to lift, carry, and operate supplies and equipment, including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and distributing supplies and equipment, often navigating crowded and busy rooms.
  • May be required to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
