Join a highly skilled orthopedic trauma team providing advanced care at a busy regional trauma center serving western South Dakota and the surrounding region. This is an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to practice in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment focused exclusively on orthopedic trauma and emergency care. You'llwork alongside experienced orthopedic trauma surgeons while gaining meaningfuloperative, inpatient, emergency department, and clinic experience.
PositionHighlights
- Full-time Orthopedic Trauma APP position
- Trauma and emergency-based practice with no elective responsibilities
- Work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary orthopedic trauma team
- First assistopportunities in the operating room
- Participate in adedicated orthopedic trauma follow-up clinic
- Excellent work-life balance with a predictable annual schedule
- 164 twelve-hour shifts annually
- 24/7 team coverage
- Typical shifts:
- 6:30 AM – 6:30PM
- 6:30 PM – 6:30AM
- Evaluate andmanage orthopedic trauma patients in the emergency department and inpatient setting.
- Round daily onhospitalized orthopedic trauma patients.
- First assistorthopedic trauma surgeons during operative procedures.
- Provide fracturemanagement, splinting, casting, wound care, postoperative management, andother procedures within scope of practice.
- Participate in adedicated orthopedic trauma follow-up clinic.
- Coordinate carewith trauma surgery, emergency medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, and case management teams.
- Educate patient sand families on treatment plans, recovery expectations, andinjuryprevention.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Pelvic andacetabular fractures
- Upper and lowerextremity fractures
- Bread-and-butterhand injuries
- Routinepediatric fractures
- Additionalorthopedic trauma and emergency cases requiring surgical and inpatientmanagement
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current oreligible South Dakota NP or PA license.
- National certification as an NP or NCCPA certification for PAs.
- Orthopedictrauma, orthopedic surgery, emergency medicine, or surgical experience preferred but not required.
- New graduateswith a strong interest in orthopedic trauma are encouraged to apply.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
