Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Outpatient Oncology position requiring prior oncology experience and previous travel assignment history.

Details
  • Outpatient oncology clinic setting within a Cancer Care Institute
  • Unit serves Medical Oncologists treating adult patients (18+) with Medical Oncology/Hematology, Hematology, and pre/post-transplant BMT diagnoses
  • Approximately 15-25 patients seen per day with CA support
  • Physician team includes 7 Medical Oncologists, each typically supported by an ARNP
  • Schedule consists of 4 shifts per week, 10-hour days from
  • No weekends, no call, and no major holiday coverage required, though minor holidays when the clinic is open will be scheduled
  • Floating routinely occurs between different physicians within Medical Oncology, with occasional floating to other clinics outside Medical Oncology
Requirements
  • Active RN license (South Dakota or Compact) required
  • BLS certification required
  • ONS and OCN certifications preferred
  • Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience required, with at least 1 year in Oncology
  • Prior clinic experience required
  • Epic Ambulatory charting experience required
  • Experience serving as first assist and chaperoning providers during clinic exams and procedures
  • Skilled in rooming patients including vital signs, review of systems, medication reconciliation, and weight
  • Experience obtaining orders, processing patients for infusions, performing chart checks, setting up for procedures, and reviewing referrals
Additional Information
  • Responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining orders, coordinating infusion processing, performing chart checks, setting up for procedures, and reviewing referrals
  • Support available on the unit includes department leadership, CAs, charge nurses, and a team lead resource, with lab services on site
  • Chemo nurses handle port access and blood draws
  • In-department orientation at CCI-Rapid City typically lasts 5 days, subject to change based on skillset and comfort level
  • Time off may be approved for up to 7 days (excluding holidays), contingent on willingness to extend the contract to accommodate the time away
  • Navy blue scrub color required
  • Free parking provided
  • First-time travelers will not be considered; candidates must have completed at least one prior 13-week travel assignment
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
  • Permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a traveler
