American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for an outpatient cancer care clinic requiring prior oncology and Epic Ambulatory experience.
Details- Outpatient oncology clinic setting
- Unit treats Medical Oncology/Hematology patients, including BMT pre-transplant and post-transplant care
- Patient population is 18 years and older
- Approximately 15-25 patients seen per day with CA support
- Schedule consists of 4 shifts per week, 10-hour days from
- No weekend or on-call requirements
- No major holidays required, but minor holidays when clinic is open must be worked
- Routine floating to work with different physicians within Medical Oncology
- Occasional floating to other clinics outside Medical Oncology is possible but unlikely
- Uses Epic Ambulatory charting system
- Active RN license (South Dakota or Compact) required
- BLS certification required
- ONS and OCN certifications preferred
- Minimum of 1.5 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in Oncology
- Prior clinic experience required
- Epic Ambulatory experience required
- Experience serving as first assist and chaperoning providers during exams and procedures
- Completion of a board-approved nursing education program
- Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vital signs, review of systems, medication reconciliation, and weight checks
- Responsible for obtaining orders and processing patients for infusions with appropriate communication once cleared
- Performs chart checks, procedure setup, and referral reviews
- Supported by department leadership, CAs, charge nurse, and a team lead resource
- Physician team includes 7 Medical Oncologists, each typically supported by an ARNP
- Chemo nurses handle port access and blood draws
- Onsite lab available
- Department orientation typically lasts 5 days, subject to change based on skillset and comfort level
- First-time travelers not accepted; candidates must have completed at least one prior 13-week travel assignment
- Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility
- Former permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a traveler
- Time off requests of up to 7 days (excluding holidays) may be approved if traveler agrees to extend the contract
- Navy blue scrubs required for nursing staff
