American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for an outpatient cancer care clinic requiring at least one year of oncology nursing experience and prior travel assignment history.
Details- Outpatient oncology clinic setting within a cancer care institute
- Unit serves Medical Oncology/Hematology patients, including BMT pre-transplant and post-transplant care
- Patient population is 18 years and older
- Approximately 15-25 patients seen per day with CA support
- Schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts, , with day off based on clinic needs
- No weekend shifts required
- No call responsibilities
- No major holiday coverage required, though minor holidays when the clinic is open will be scheduled
- Routine floating to work with different physicians within Medical Oncology
- Possible but unlikely floating to other clinics outside Medical Oncology
- Uses Epic Ambulatory charting system
- Active RN license (South Dakota or Compact) required
- BLS certification required
- ONS and OCN certifications preferred
- Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience required, with at least 1 year in Oncology
- Clinic experience required
- Epic Ambulatory experience required
- Experience as first assist and chaperoning for provider exams and procedures performed in clinic
- Skilled in rooming patients, vital signs, review of systems, medication reconciliation, and weight measurement
- Experience obtaining orders and processing patients for infusions
- Experience with chart checks, procedure set-up, and referral review
- Responsibilities include rooming patients, assisting providers with exams and procedures, and coordinating infusion processing
- Support team includes department leadership, clinical assistants, charge nurse, and team lead resources
- On-site lab available, with chemo nurses handling port access and blood draws
- Physician team includes seven Medical Oncologists, each typically supported by an ARNP
- Department orientation typically lasts 5 days, subject to change based on skillset and comfort level
- Up to 7 days of time off may be approved, excluding holidays, contingent on willingness to extend the contract
- Navy blue scrubs required for nursing staff
- Free parking available
- First-time travelers will not be considered; candidates must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
- Former permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler
