Adults with various diagnoses including CHF, ARF, hepatitis, ESLD, DM, DKA, pneumonia, sepsis, GI bleed, syncope, chest pain, pulmonary emboli, respiratory failure, COPD, arrhythmias, seizure disorders, overdose, and delirium tremors.
Patient Ratios:
- PCU/Tele RN: 1:4 (Days/Nights)
- Med/Surg RN: 1:5 (Days/Nights)
- CNA: 1:8 (Days/Nights)
- RN: BLS, ACLS
- LPN: BLS required; ACLS preferred
- CNA:
Certified CNA, BLS is not required
Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing;
Registered Nurse (RN) must be licensed by the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
Experience outside of this specialty should be included in your application. Candidates should possess the following skills:
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- IV starts and blood product administration
- CIWA and drain/tube management
- Indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management
- Insulin drips
- Continuous bladder irrigation
- Chest tube maintenance
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Thorough physical assessments
- Professional bedside manner and strong clinical judgment
- Teamwork and adaptability
Candidates should be comfortable working alongside an LPN in a team nursing model. Each will manage their own patient loads, with potential task swapping as needed.

OrientationOrientation consists of:
- 2 days of in-class/online education
- 2 x 12-hour shifts with a preceptor
- Weekend rotation: 50% of weekends per a 4-week schedule
- Holiday expectations:
Minimum of every other holiday during the contracted timeframe - Up to 7 days of time off may be approved, with extension options for longer absences
- No time off during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August)
- Attendance at huddles is required before shift starts
- Monthly audits for Pre/Post Pain Scoring must meet compliance requirements

Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma – heavy trauma population Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR – 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this – given to permanent staff Patient Ratios: RN: 1:1, 2:1, 3:1
