DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience in a Level 3 or higher NICU setting.
Details- Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 OB ED/Triage beds, and 4 Antepartum rooms
- Only Level 3 NICU within a 350-mile radius, accepting high-risk to low-intervention laboring patients
- Cares for antepartum, OB triage/ED, postpartum, and infant patients
- Patient ratios:
Antepartum 1:3, Inactive Labor 1:2, Active Labor 1:1, Postpartum/Couplet care 1:3 couplets - Uses EPIC charting system
- 12-hour variable shifts (0630/1830), requiring flexibility to work both days and nights throughout the contract
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- May be placed on low census call
- Floating to Postpartum/Couplet care required throughout the contract
- Active SD or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP
- ACLS, inpatient obstetrics certification, electronic fetal monitoring certification, or inpatient antepartum certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience, preferably in a Level 3 or higher NICU facility
- EPIC charting experience required unless manager approval is granted
- Competency managing high acuity labor patients, including preeclampsia, preterm labor and delivery, and antepartum patients under 35 weeks gestation
- Skills required:
IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate administration, blood administration, insulin administration, circulating C-sections, and C-section recovery care - Must be comfortable caring for couplets and normal newborn nursery patients (Level I care)
- Experience with lower acuity NICU patients (Level II care) highly preferred
- Completion of an approved nursing education program
- Unit support includes a Unit Secretary, Scrub Tech, Charge Nurse, VAT team, 24/7 RT, OB Physician team, and Anesthesia/CRNA
- Orientation includes NEO and a 4-day preceptorship (3 days in L&D, 1 day in Postpartum)
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Time off requests require manager approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
