DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Mother Baby/Post Partum unit requiring 2 years of L&D or Postpartum/GYN experience and a SD or compact RN license.
Details- Mother/Baby unit with 20 beds providing couplet care and rooming-in with newborns
- Patient population includes postpartum patients with complications such as pre-eclampsia, HTN, and magnesium sulfate infusions, plus occasional post-surgical GYN patients
- May care for NICU feeder/grower babies and Level 2 nursery infants (bilirubin, NAS scoring, late preterm, blood sugar monitoring)
- Postpartum/couplet ratios generally 1:3, flexing to 1:4 when caring for a NICU mom
- Facility features the only Level 3 NICU within a 350-mile radius
- Uses Epic EMR
- 12-hour variable shifts and ), requiring flexibility between day and night shifts throughout the contract
- Weekend rotation every other weekend, potentially less
- No call requirements
- Floating expected to units such as L&D, NICU, Peds, or PICU based on facility needs
- Active RN license (SD or Compact) currently in hand
- 2 years of L&D experience or 2 years of Postpartum/GYN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP
- Preferred certifications: STABLE, CBC, ACLS, inpatient obstetrics certification, electronic fetal monitoring, or inpatient antepartum experience
- Must be able to care for couplets and GYN surgical patients
- Experience with IV starts, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate administration, blood administration, and insulin drips preferred
- L&D trained candidates preferred for circulating C-sections, C-section recovery care, and cervical checks
- Support team includes charge nurse, IBCLC lactation nurses, vascular access team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, OB physician team, anesthesia/CRNA, and scrub techs supporting L&D RNs
- A non-patient load CRN is available to support couplet or baby care as needed
- Facility follows established NICU transfer standards when required
- May be expected to precept nursing students
- Scrub color required: navy blue
- Free parking provided
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Time off requests must be approved by the unit manager
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility, as local travelers are not accepted
- Facility is known for being traveler-friendly with strong renewal rates
