Aboutthis Role
The Lineman Apprentice Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering practical and theoretical training to apprentices in the construction industry, ensuring they gain the necessary skills and knowledge to become proficient tradespeople.
This role involves mentoring, assessing progress, ensuring safety, and providing hands‑on experience in a variety of construction tasks.
This role is based in Rapid City, South Dakota, and candidates must be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.
Pay: This is an exempt/salary position. The pay range is $110,00 - $160,000. Pay may vary depending on your location, skills, and experience
Travel Requirements: Up to 75%
What You’ll DoRESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Instruction and Training:
- Teaching apprentices how to use hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
- Providing practical hands‑on training in various construction skills, such as framing, climbing and setting poles, transformer connections and install, and underground powerlines.
- Instructing apprentices on construction techniques, safety procedures, and industry best practices.
- Ensuring apprentices understand blueprints, specifications, and construction plans.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensuring the safety of the worksite and enforcing safety regulations.
- Training apprentices on safety protocols and procedures.
- Monitoring compliance with safety standards and reporting any hazards.
- Mentorship and Guidance:
- Providing guidance and support to apprentices throughout their training.
- Assessing the knowledge, skills, and performance of apprentices.
- Identifying areas for improvement and providing feedback to apprentices.
- Helping apprentices develop their professional skills and prepare for the job market.
- Curriculum and Program Development:
- Participating in the development and updating of construction training programs.
- Ensuring the curriculum aligns with industry standards and regulations.
- Implementing strategies to meet the goals and objectives of the apprenticeship program.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Working closely with other construction staff and supervisors.
- Communicating with apprentices, employers, and other stakeholders.
- Maintaining records of apprentices' training and progress.
QUALIFICATIONS AND
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Journeyman Lineman Certification
PREFERRED
SKILLS:
- Strong Understanding of Safety:
Construction work is inherently risky, so trainers need to be knowledgeable about safety regulations, OSHA standards, and how to ensure a safe working environment for apprentices. - Teaching
Skills:
Good communication and teaching abilities are essential for conveying information effectively and motivating apprentices.
