Core Responsibilities
- Lead electronics-related sourcing cost engineering; provide SME across PCBAs, cable harnesses, sensors, connectors, actuators/motors, electromechanical assemblies, and passive/active components.
- Build/own should-cost models (BOM + process routing) to support strategic sourcing, RFPs, contract renewals, and complex negotiations.
- Convert BOM/routing/test/yield inputs into cost structures (materials, labor, overhead, NRE, test) and identify cost levers.
- Partner with Procurement leadership on should-cost targets and engagement guidelines.
- Collaborate with R&D/NPD on DFM/DFT, should-cost modeling, and cost-tradeoff analyses to reduce lifecycle cost while meeting quality/regulatory needs.
- Support suppliers/CMs to calibrate assumptions, assess capacity/footprint constraints, and structure value delivery plans (cost/yield/efficiency/vertical sourcing).
- Lead supplier benchmarking and use analytics/AI to scale models, automate scenarios, and improve time to insight.
- Train/coaching Procurement and stakeholders on electronics cost engineering and using should-cost models in negotiations.
- 10+ years in manufacturing, cost engineering, sourcing/quoting/sales engineering with focus on electronics and EMS.
- Bachelor’s degree (required);
Master’s in Electrical/Electronic, Manufacturing, Industrial or related (preferred). - Hands‑on EMS/component experience (SMT, through‑hole, reflow/wave, coating/potting/box build, cable harness assembly).
- Demonstrated should‑cost/BOM modeling for PCBAs, harnesses, sensors, connectors, electromechanical subassemblies; deep knowledge of electronics cost drivers.
- Commercial/financial acumen; strong communication; influence senior stakeholders.
- Production/process engineering in EMS;
Lean Six Sigma (GB/BB); regulated industry/design controls familiarity; IPC standards familiarity. - Advanced Excel; PLM/ERP/BOM systems; EDA/PCB (Gerber/IPC) familiarity; SQL/Python/R and Tableau/Power BI.
