About the Role
We are seeking a strategic and technical leader to deliver data products and associated AI applications aimed at accelerating the Immunology R&D Pipeline. This Senior Director, Immunology Data & AI Systems will lead a team to build a foundational enterprise data platform and deploy scalable AI models for the entire Immunology therapy area. The role reports to the Vice President of Immunology and Cardiopulmonary, DSDH, and works closely with R&D Data Science, Digital Health, Knowledge Management, and Technology teams.
The position is site-based at one of the following locations:
Spring House, PA;
Cambridge, MA;
Titusville, NJ;
Raritan, NJ; or San Diego, CA (no fully remote option). Occasional travel for cross‑functional workshops, design sessions, and team meetings may be required.
- Lead a team to develop technical requirements for Immunology‑focused data products that enable AI applications.
- Attract, upskill, and retain top talent in the field; manage a technical team and collaborate with stakeholders in R&D, DSDH, and JJT.
- Define and maintain a roadmap for Immunology data products spanning discovery, translational research, clinical development, and real‑world evidence.
- Partner with Knowledge Management, Data Platforms & Governance, and Master Data Management to ensure seamless integration of data products into enterprise ontologies, knowledge graphs, and catalogs.
- Lead the design and deployment of impactful, scalable AI solutions for Immunology.
- Contribute to the development and governance of an Immunology Ontology to enable semantic consistency across discovery, clinical, regulatory, and real‑world data.
- Establish governance models, agile delivery processes, and value‑tracking metrics for Immunology data products and AI tools.
- Champion data literacy and adoption within the Immunology therapeutic area.
- Advanced degree (PhD) in Computer Science, AI/ML, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of post‑academic, industry, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with diverse, high‑dimensional data sets such as multi‑modal Immunology data, including omics, imaging, translational, clinical trial, and RWE data.
- Extensive experience creating scalable, data‑driven solutions and managing the full lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, operations, and maintenance).
- Strong people‑leadership experience and ability to work in a matrixed organization.
- Deep knowledge of data products, database design, data transformation/mapping.
- Excellent communication skills and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Experience in Life Sciences, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical or Medical Tech sector.
- Experience with Immunology Ontology enterprise metadata standards and external frameworks (e.g. CDISC, GA4GH, FHIR, NCI Thesaurus).
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive adoption of new data capabilities across a complex organization.

- Salary range: $196,000 to $342,700 (base).
- Annual performance bonus eligibility.

- Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year.
