Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for R&D Co‑ops and interns in the Wound Closure & Healing R&D Organization in Raritan, NJ. The Med Tech organization offers a wide range of products and platforms for minimally‑invasive and open surgical procedures.
Job DescriptionThe role involves laboratory work in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science within the Med Tech Surgery organization. Projects may include prototype development, experimental studies, chemical synthesis, and use of analytical test methods.
Responsibilities- Hands‑on laboratory work in a chemistry or engineering lab
- Good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, generating final reports, and documenting meeting minutes
- Crafting and evaluating prototypes
- Performing experimental studies, chemical synthesis, and operating chemical process equipment under supervision
- Collaborating with engineers and outside suppliers to support project related activities
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university during the co‑op session
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or related field
- Completed at least sophomore year
- Available to work full‑time (40 hours per week) during the co‑op session
- Strong preference for a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Demonstrated leadership or participation in campus programs or community service activities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
- Comfortable working independently and on a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong oral and written communication skills
- Hands‑on laboratory experience preferred, especially in chemistry, microbiology, or engineering labs
- Relevant coursework in organic chemistry or polymer science/engineering preferred
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring future employment visa sponsorship
- Ability to provide personal transportation; stipend may be offered based on commuting distance
Hourly pay ranges from $23.00 to $51.50 per hour, depending on program year, discipline, degree, and experience. Co‑ops/Interns are eligible for company‑sponsored medical benefits, sick time (up to 40 hours per calendar year, up to 56 hours in Washington state), and the consolidated retirement plan.
