Job Title:

Scientist I – Organic Chemistry

Location:

Summit and Skillman, NJ

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Organic Chemist with strong expertise in synthetic chemistry, route development, and compound characterization to join our research and development team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and optimizing multi-step organic syntheses, scaling reactions, and applying advanced analytical techniques in a dynamic laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement analytical methods (HPLC/UPLC) to characterize synthesized compounds. Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation, including LC-MS, NMR, and HPLC/UPLC systems.
  • Characterize compounds using NMR, LC-MS, HPLC-ELSD, UPLC-CAD, FT-IR, and GC-MS.
  • Design and optimize synthetic routes for novel ionizable lipids, small molecules, polymers, and other complex organic compounds.
  • Perform purification using reverse- and normal-phase chromatography techniques.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry (or related field) with relevant industry experience; or B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry with significant hands-on laboratory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of spectroscopic and analytical characterization techniques (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC-ELSD, UPLC-CAD, FT-IR, GC-MS).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced R&D environment. Proven experience in organic synthesis, route scouting, and process optimization. Strong organizational, communication, and technical writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with ionizable lipids, polymer chemistry, or heterocyclic compounds.
