Position Summary

The Mendix Platform Architect & Senior Developer is responsible for the architecture, design, development, integration, deployment, and support of enterprise Mendix applications. This role serves as the technical lead for the Mendix platform, providing architectural guidance while also actively participating in hands‑on development, troubleshooting, upgrades, and production support activities.

The individual will collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Enterprise Architects, Infrastructure Teams, Security, Quality, and Business Stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, compliant, and high‑performing digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Define and maintain the overall Mendix platform architecture and roadmap.
• Lead solution architecture reviews and technical design decisions.
• Establish development standards, coding guidelines, and reusable design patterns.
• Review application designs for scalability, reliability, maintainability, and performance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.
• Support technology evaluations and platform modernization initiatives.

Application Development

• Design, develop, and maintain Mendix applications using best practices.
• Configure and develop:
  • Domain Models
  • Microflows
  • Nanoflows
  • Business Rules
  • User Interfaces
  • Security Models
• Develop reusable Mendix modules and components.
• Create custom Java actions where required.
• Perform code reviews and ensure compliance with development standards.

Integration & Data Management

• Design and develop integrations with enterprise applications, including:
  • SAP
  • MES / Opcenter
  • CDL
  • Azure Services
  • REST APIs
  • SOAP Services
  • Database integrations
• Ensure data quality, synchronization, and integration reliability.
• Define API and integration standards across solutions.

Cloud, Infrastructure & Dev Ops

• Support Mendix deployments across Development, Test, Validation, and Production environments.
• Partner with Infrastructure teams on Azure‑hosted Mendix environments.
• Support:
  • AKS/Kubernetes environments
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Blue‑Green deployments
  • Disaster recovery planning
  • Environment automation
• Monitor application performance and recommend optimization opportunities.
• Lead Mendix platform upgrade activities.
• Assess application impacts from Mendix version upgrades.
• Remediate upgrade‑related issues.
• Manage technical debt and platform sustainability initiatives.
• Recommend improvements for application stability and performance.

Quality, Security & Compliance

• Ensure solutions comply with enterprise security standards.
• Support validation activities and regulated environment requirements.
• Implement role‑based security and authentication controls.
• Partner with Cybersecurity, Privacy, Quality, and Validation teams.
• Support audit readiness and compliance documentation.

Production Support

• Provide Level 3 technical support.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production incidents.
• Drive resolution of complex technical issues.
• Support release planning, deployment, and hypercare activities.
• Participate in on‑call support as required.

Agile Delivery

• Participate in backlog refinement and sprint planning.
• Estimate technical effort for enhancements and projects.
• Work closely with Product Owners and Business Analysts to refine requirements.
• Deliver high‑quality solutions aligned with business priorities.

Experience

• 7+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years of Mendix development experience.
• Experience serving as a solution architect or technical lead.

Technical Skills

Certifications

• Mendix Advanced Developer Certification (Required)
• Mendix Expert Certification (Preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturing or Supply Chain Systems experience.
• Experience with SAP and Opcenter/MES integrations.
• Experience in validated or regulated environments.
• Knowledge of GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
• Experience supporting global enterprise applications.
