Position OverviewThis position will drive CDL water trucks and other vehicles for the purpose of delivering water and other materials to the job site. Duties of the CDL driver will include driving a truck pulling a trailer with heavy equipment on board for the purpose of delivering to the job site. The position also involves the safe and efficient operation of various types of heavy construction equipment such as rollers, blades, loaders, backhoes, water trucks, etc.
to prepare grade for concrete and asphalt. The driver will also work at construction sites performing general construction and clean‑up tasks.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)- CDL Driver:
- Operate water truck and other CDL vehicles as instructed.
- Loads and unloads equipment and secures equipment on trailer per DOT regulation.
- Routinely assists other members of the workforce in different areas of production.
- Equipment Operator:
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently within its designed parameters. Equipment operated may include but is not limited to rollers, blades, loaders, backhoes, etc.
- Perform labor duties such as shoveling, raking and compacting materials in grading operations.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
- Keep machines cleaned and maintained.
- Have knowledge of proper equipment operation, grade and work operations.
- Perform “grade check” duties, including hammering hubs, reading grade stakes and plans.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
- Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
- Maintain regular and timely attendance.
- Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous asphalt grade/pave operations and/or construction related experience preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Class A CDL with self‑certification of non‑exempted interstate and current DOT medical card required.
- Safety‑minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrates ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
- Demonstrates willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays.
- Demonstrates willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, site specifications, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Grip – with at least 90 lbs. of force.
- Climbing – in, around, and on equipment.
- Heavy lifting – of extremely awkward parts and equipment up to 75 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Awkward positions – getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground.
- Flexibility – awkward reaches.
- Balance – including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.
- Vision – 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.
- Hearing – corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Must be able to pass physical fitness and agility test.
- Must be able to pass pre‑employment background check and drug screen.
