Job Description
DescriptionThe Nursing Assistant II (NA II) is an entry‑level position specifically designed for current nursing students aiming to enrich their preparation for a nursing career. Under the guidance of an experienced nurse, you will acquire valuable hands‑on experience by providing safe, efficient, age‑specific care to patients and families in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health status.
The role is designed to build upon the experience gained in the classroom and during clinical rotations.
- Direct patient care delivery, including, but not limited to:
- ADLs/hygiene
- Vital signs
- I&O
- Bladder scanning
- EKG
- Glucometer & other point of care testing (where applicable)
- Restraints
- Communication and documentation of interventions and observations
- Participation in quality improvement process
- Involved in learning and self‑improvement
- Initiates and maintains a positive relationship with patients/customers and coworkers
- Supportive & education focused culture
- More hands‑on practice of clinical & interpersonal skills
- Build confidence in providing patient care
- Team‑work oriented staff & interdisciplinary teams
- Exposure to EMR systems & documentation of interventions & observations
- Learn about your areas of interest
- Pathway for skill development and career advancement
- Enrollment in a Diploma RN, Associate, Bachelor or Master’s degree of Nursing
- Successful completion of a hands‑on, direct patient care clinical through a Registered Nurse Program
- Prior experience on a related unit or specialty in a practicum, internship or STNA/PCNA/NAII is preferred
- Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice
- Successful completion of a Nursing Fundamentals course required
- Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (i.e. stethoscope, thermometers, glucometers, and electronic monitoring devices)
