DescriptionThe Nursing Assistant II (NA II) is an entry-level position specifically designed for current nursing students aiming to enrich their preparation for a nursing career. Under the guidance of an experienced nurse, you will acquire valuable hands‑on experience by providing safe, efficient, age‑specific care to patients and families in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health status.
The role is designed to build upon the experience gained in the classroom and during clinical rotations.
NA IIs work under the direction of an RN to provide safe, efficient, age‑specific care to patients and families to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health status.
Responsibilities include:
- Direct patient care delivery, including, but not limited to:
- ADLs/hygiene
- Vital signs
- I&O
- Bladder scanning
- EKG
- Glucometer & other point of care testing (where applicable)
- Restraints
- Communication and documentation of interventions and observations
- Participation in quality improvement process
- Involved in learning and self‑improvement
- Initiates and maintains a positive relationship with patients/customers and coworkers – why UH
