Office AssistantThe Wyoming State Penitentiary is seeking an Office Assistant to join our team. This position provides comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Warden. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day administrative operations, coordinating assigned programs and projects, and offering guidance to administrative staff.

- Independently compose and type correspondence related to the assigned office/program area.
- Review incoming correspondence, applications, etc.; initiate replies as appropriate; route matters requiring action by staff; follow up to ensure actions are completed.
- Compile and type special reports by selecting relevant information from a variety of sources, such as reports, documents, correspondence, electronic files, etc.
- Perform specialized tasks relating to databases.
- Serve as the point of contact for the assigned program.
- Apply specific knowledge of work unit programs and activities.
- Complete special projects for the program manager.
- Participate in the development of department documents; provide guidance and technical assistance to the department.
- Train other staff or work as part of a project management team with managers and other professionals.
- Responsible for customer service, answer questions on departmental services and functions; assist the public; handle and adjust customer complaints.
- Interpret policies and procedures for employees or customers.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
- Knowledge of record-keeping and preparation of reports.
- Knowledge of state governmental organizations.
- Knowledge of the principles and methods of gathering information.
- Knowledge of methods used to monitor and evaluate program delivery.
- Knowledge of governmental procurement principles, methods, and procedures.
- Knowledge of forms development techniques.
- Knowledge of advanced research, analysis, and compilation of data.
- Knowledge of agency-specific specialties.
Education:
Associate's Degree (typically in Business)
Experience:
Acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Assistant I
OR Education & Experience Substitution: 1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business Office Communications) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Assistant I
