Field Safety Representative
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Field Safety Representative with a focus on Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects to ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety on utility construction job sites across the New England region. This role requires extensive travel within New England to various project locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility construction safety, with specific experience in T&D.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct on-site safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments for T&D construction projects.
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as company policies and industry best practices.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA and other relevant safety standards, particularly regarding T&D operations, including energized line work and substation projects.
- Collaborate with field teams to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures to minimize risk.
- Lead daily safety briefings and toolbox talks with crews, emphasizing key safety protocols and addressing any job-specific concerns.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, compiling detailed reports and making recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Provide safety training and coaching to field personnel, ensuring workers are equipped with the knowledge and skills to work safely.
- Participate in pre-construction planning meetings to incorporate safety considerations into project workflows.
- Stay up-to-date with evolving safety regulations and industry trends, ensuring the company's safety practices remain current.
- Report regularly to the Safety Manager and provide recommendations for improving the safety performance of T&D operations.
- 5+ years of experience in utility construction safety, with a strong focus on T&D projects (transmission lines, substations, and distribution systems).
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, NESC, and other relevant safety standards.
- Safety certifications such as OSHA 30, Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), or equivalent preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence field personnel.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the New England region.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
- Comfortable working at heights, near energized equipment, and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform site walks on uneven terrain.
