Job Goal:
To provide a clean, safe, and comfortable learning environment for all students and staff

• Certificate of good health signed by a licensed physician
• Ability to read basic operating instructions
• Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the assigned task
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

• Clean all classrooms, corridors, storerooms, work rooms, offices, teachers’ rooms, kitchen, cafeteria, and toilet rooms daily, including sweeping, dry mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal
• Maintain tile floors through stripping, sealing, finishing, washing, buffing, and recoating as required
• Vacuum carpeted floors daily, spot‑clean as required, and shampoo once a year
• Wash and sanitize toilet room floors and fixtures daily; keep walls clean and graffiti‑free as required
• Dust, wash windows, mirrors, and woodwork; clean classroom sinks; perform minor maintenance and repairs as necessary and time allows
• Set up and take down chairs, tables, A.V. equipment, and any required materials for various functions
• Clean and sanitize drinking fountains daily
• Operate cleaning equipment
• Maintain litter‑free grounds
• Ensure walkways and stairwells remain clear of debris, clean spills, remove snow, sand, or salt ice as required
• Maintain entryway lights as required
• During heating season, ensure boilers are operating
• Lock classrooms after hours and engage the security system upon leaving the building
• Report any maintenance or security problems to the head custodian immediately

Must be able to lift objects weighing 5–60 lbs.; stand or walk for 2–7.5 hours; perform repetitive hand motions and push, pull, and reach overhead objects; and operate cleaning equipment.
