REPORTS TO:

Head Custodian and Facilities Director

To provide a clean, safe, and comfortable learning environment for all students and staff.

• General: Clean all classrooms, corridors, store rooms, work rooms, offices, teachers' rooms, kitchen, cafeteria, toilet rooms daily (sweeping, dry mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal). Maintain tile floors (stripping, sealing, finishing, washing, buffing, and recoating as required). Carpeted floors will be vacuumed daily, spot cleaned as required, and shampooed at least once a year. Toilet room floors are to be washed and sanitized daily;
  
  toilet fixtures, walls, and windows, mirrors, woodwork and classroom sinks are to be cleaned and sanitized daily. Dusting, washing of windows, mirrors, and woodwork, cleaning of classroom sinks, and minor maintenance and repairs (as needed and time allows).
• Set up: Set up and take down chairs, tables, A.V. equipment, and any required material for various functions as required.
• Facility cleaning: Drinking fountains will be cleaned and sanitized daily; operate cleaning equipment.
• Grounds: Maintain litter‑free grounds.
• Safety and Security: Assure walkways and stairwells are clear of all debris; cleanup spills, remove snow and sand or salt ice as required; maintain entryway lights; during heating season ensure boilers are operating; lock classrooms after hours and engage security system on leaving the building; report any maintenance and/or security problems to the head custodian immediately.

Must be able to lift objects weighing 5–60 lbs., stand/walk for periods of 2–7.5 hours, perform repetitive hand motions, and operate cleaning equipment.

• Promptness; be on time for work.
• Appropriate dress and personal hygiene required.
• Custodians are expected to conduct themselves in a polite, friendly manner.
• Cooperation and teamwork required; respect for and the ability to assist each other is expected.

• Other duties and requirements as directed by the Head Custodian or Facilities Director.
