Job Description

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a DS Sr Mgr Global Payroll Process located in Raynham, MA or New Brunswick, NJ.

We are seeking a senior manager to lead Global Payroll and Time & Attendance Process and Vendor Governance. The role oversees payroll and T&A processes, vendor governance, and risk management to ensure data quality and integrity across the enterprise. The incumbent will manage a portfolio of payroll-related projects—including system implementations, process improvements, and regulatory upgrades—aligning them with business objectives, delivering them on time and within budget, and realizing measurable benefits.

The position is a subject‑matter expert in payroll business process management, defining and implementing a global standardized service model while accommodating local variations. The manager works cross‑functionally to design regional and country‑based processes, drive training delivery, and manage change and communications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial and HR Data Quality Management: Influence the design and execution of controls ensuring accurate employee payment data. Collaborate with HR systems feeding payroll to support overall data governance.
  • Define Data Ownership Across Functions: Establish clear ownership structures among Payroll, Total Rewards, and HR to promote accountability and data accuracy.
  • Steady State Project and Portfolio Management: Define portfolio vision, objectives, and success criteria; create governance framework with prioritization, stage gates, and decision rights; align portfolio with HR/Finance strategy; develop intake process; evaluate proposals using ROI, risk, regulatory impact, and strategic fit; maintain backlog; monitor progress; manage interdependencies; resolve critical issues; forecast costs; align spending with headcount and benefits; report realized benefits;

    manage portfolio risks; support audits; implement controls; develop change management strategies; communicate status to executives; prepare adoption and training plans; serve as liaison with HR, Finance, IT, vendors, and sponsors; oversee vendor selection, contract management, SLAs, and performance reviews.
  • Contract Management and Financial Support: Monitor financial metrics and compliance to drive efficiency. Assess vendor performance and SLA adherence. Ensure active, compliant contracts.
  • Steady State Change Management: Manage global change intake, governance process, and advisory board oversight.
  • Vendor Assessments and SOC Reviews: Collaborate with IT, payroll operations, and vendors to conduct assessments and SOC reviews; complete SOX deliverables; remediate issues; ensure complementary user entity controls are effective.
  • Audit and Advisory Support: Coordinate payroll audits, prepare documentation, respond to inquiries, and liaise with audit groups to establish corrective action plans.
  • Process Deep Dives: Lead point of contact for global process team and country payroll teams to transform local processes into global standards; analyze key payroll processes; recommend strategic enhancements; lead root cause analysis; implement new controls; use data to improve training.
  • User Access Management SME: Lead identity and access management efforts for payroll systems, ensuring appropriate access per IDMS workflow.
  • Training and End‑User Readiness: Develop training content, conduct sessions, translate tasks into meaningful training and knowledge transition deliverables.
  • Resource Planning & Talent Development: Allocate human and technical resources, balance load, identify capability gaps, and support training for PMs, analysts, and payroll specialists.
  • Data Governance, Quality & Reporting: Ensure data integrity, privacy, and security across payroll systems; create dashboards, KPIs, and portfolio reports; standardize reporting templates.
