Business Excellence Engineer

Job Summary

Staff Business Excellence Engineer – Orthopaedics to lead cross‑functional continuous improvement initiatives from Define through Control using Lean Six Sigma methodology, driving measurable business results in cost, quality, throughput, and lead time across our Orthopaedics manufacturing operations.

• Lead cross‑functional continuous improvement projects from Define through Control using Lean Six Sigma methodology.
• Act as project owner for medium‑to‑large capital and process improvement projects: develop charters, build schedules, manage risks, track budgets and report status.
• Design and implement visual factory solutions (kanban, visual metrics, standardized work boards) and support site‑wide deployment of 5S/6S and standard work.
• Use CAD tools to support process design, line layouts, tooling/fixture concepts and process simulations; create and revise technical drawings.
• Coach, mentor and train employees and leaders on Lean, Six Sigma tools, problem solving (A3, PDCA), and change management.
• Apply data analysis and root‑cause investigation techniques to drive corrective actions and process control.
• Facilitate cross‑functional workshops (kaizen events, rapid improvement events) and lead stakeholder alignment.
• Define and monitor KPIs (OEE, cycle time, first‑pass yield, scrap, throughput, safety metrics); translate performance into action plans.
• Support deployment and continuous improvement of maintenance and reliability practices (TPM/RCM principles).
• Document and sustain improvements through control plans, training, audits and governance rituals.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental practices; guarantee required resources are available.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Minimum 4+ years progressive experience in continuous improvement, manufacturing engineering, or operations improvement.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (mandatory);
    Black Belt preferred.
  • Experience with visual management, value stream mapping, standard work and kaizen events.
  • Advanced Power BI skills; able to create dashboards and actionable insights.
  • Strong project management experience (charters, schedules, budgeting, stakeholder management).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel advanced, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
  • Data‑driven problem solving and statistical analysis proficiency.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and change‑management skills; influence at all levels.
  • Knowledge of regulatory environments (ISO, FDA) and MES/ERP integration preferred.

• Deliver cost savings / productivity improvements (financial metrics).
• Reduce cycle time, lead time or WIP.
• Improve quality metrics (PPM, first‑pass yield).
• Achieve OEE improvement targets.
• On‑time project delivery and sustainment of implemented changes.
• Capability uplift across teams (trained belts, kaizen events executed).

Primarily on‑site in a manufacturing plant with occasional office work; intermittent local travel between facilities and occasional extended hours to support project roll‑outs.
