Sr. Manager, R&D Applications & Master Data
DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Sr. Manager, R&D Applications & Master Data, located in Raynham, Massachusetts.
The Sr. Manager, R&D Applications & Master Data provides strategic and operational leadership across multiple R&D portfolios, ensuring the effective planning, execution, and delivery of research and development programs. This role plays a critical part in enabling innovation by building scalable, compliant, and efficient R&D operations that support product development from concept through commercialization. The position offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-level R&D strategy while leading high-impact teams in a dynamic, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee R&D operational activities across multiple product families, ensuring alignment with business priorities, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and optimize R&D operational processes, governance models, and standard operating procedures to improve efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
- Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to enable timely and effective product development execution.
- Manage budgets, resource planning, and capacity forecasting to support short- and long-term R&D initiatives.
- Lead, coach, and develop managers and senior individual contributors, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and talent development.
- Drive operational risk identification and mitigation, ensuring adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), design controls, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Monitor operational performance through metrics and dashboards, using data-driven insights to guide decision-making and improvements.
- Serve as a key R&D operations representative in governance forums, leadership reviews, and strategic planning discussions.
Qualifications
Education
- Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related technical discipline. - Preferred:
Master's degree or MBA.
Experience and Skills
Required:
- Typically requires 6-8 years of progressive experience in R&D, engineering, or technical operations, with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of R&D operational processes, quality systems, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex portfolios, budgets, and resource plans.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting multiple product families or platforms simultaneously.
- Background in orthopedic or medical device product development.
- Experience driving operational excellence, process transformation, or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with global R&D operating models and matrixed organizations.
- Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing managers within a regulated environment (medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences preferred).

Up to 20% domestic and/or international travel. - Certifications:
Project management or quality certifications (e.g., PMP, Lean, Six Sigma) preferred.
