What We're Looking For:
GNC's Store Manager in Training (SMIT) is a development-focused role designed to prepare an individual to manage their own store. Under the leadership of a Store Manager or District Manager, this hands-on program teaches the skills and knowledge needed to operate a store, drive results, and develop a team.
As a SMIT, you are part of a team that is passionate about helping everyone win. With a focus on business needs and health and wellness, you will offer tailored and innovative solutions to customers.
What You’ll DoThis is a Full-Time Hourly Supervisory Position
- Engage with your leader in training initiatives, projects, and goals to support your path to promotion during the program.
- Support the total shopping experience, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the customer relationship that leads to sales and repeat business (e.g., MYGNC Rewards).
- Achieve and exceed personal sales and productivity goals while helping sales associates realize their sales potential.
- Build strong teams and demonstrate leadership and managerial skills, including giving feedback, recruiting, hiring, and performance management.
- Open, close, and operate the retail facility, including cash handling, inventory counts, and deposits per GNC procedures.
- Attend community events to promote the organization’s mission and initiatives.
Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion into a Store Manager position. At the end of 90 days, performance will be assessed to determine eligibility for promotion.
Environmental Factors & Working Schedule- Stand or walk for up to eight hours a day.
- Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting (below waist and above shoulders).
- Repetitive hand-to-finger motions and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently lifting up to 20 pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds; push/pull up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders, reach and bend.
- Work in temperatures ranging from 50–85 degrees, especially in stock areas.
- Use of a computer up to 60% of the time during the day.
- SMITs are expected to work five days / 40 hours per week and adhere to schedule guidelines.
- Mall and strip center stores: work at least two weeknights until closing, one weekend night, and one other night; strip centers must work a full Saturday shift.
- Mall stores: work peak business days including weekends; expect to work a minimum of one full Sunday per month.
- Downtown stores: work during lunch hours (11am–2pm) Monday–Friday and one weeknight if open in the evening;
Saturdays are not required for downtown stores. - SMITs are expected to work all major U.S. holidays that the store is open.
