Position: Oil Change Technician

An Oil Change Technician is a skilled professional responsible for performing routine maintenance on vehicles to ensure their smooth operation and longevity. They specialize in changing engine oil and filters, checking and topping up essential fluids, and conducting basic vehicle inspections. Utilizing a variety of tools and equipment, they follow established procedures and guidelines to complete tasks efficiently and effectively. In addition to oil changes, Oil Change Technicians may provide services like tire rotations or battery replacements.

They possess in-depth knowledge of different oil types and viscosities, enabling them to recommend the most suitable options for specific vehicle makes and models.

Safety and cleanliness are paramount in their work. Oil Change Technicians adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized work environment. They dispose of used oil and filters responsibly to minimize environmental impact.

Oil Change Technicians interact with vehicle owners, addressing their queries, providing recommendations, and explaining maintenance procedures clearly. Collaboration with other technicians and service advisors is crucial to deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles by changing engine oil and filters.
  • Replace used oil in the engine with fresh oil and replace oil filters.
  • Check and top up essential fluids such as coolant, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer fluid.
  • Conduct basic vehicle inspections to identify potential issues or safety concerns.
  • Use tools and equipment like oil drain pans, oil filter wrenches, wrenches and sockets, oil pumps, and fluid level checking devices.
  • Follow established procedures, safety protocols, and guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Dispose of used oil and filters in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Interact with vehicle owners, answer questions, and provide recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and service advisors to provide excellent customer service.
  • Possess strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and precise work.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Knowledge of different oil types and viscosities and the ability to recommend suitable options for specific makes and models.
  • Ability to use common automotive tools and equipment related to oil changes and basic maintenance.
