Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service. Assists the Department Manager to present the freshest, most innovative, and best quality products at a competitive retail price to customers.

Health Wellness Home, Meat Department Manager. Positions that report to you:
Meat Specialists, Meat Wrap Coordinators, Clerks.
- Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
- Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner, learn customers’ names and address them by name whenever possible.
- Assist customers by:
- escorting them to the products they’re looking for,
- securing products that are out of reach,
- loading or unloading heavy items,
- making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests,
- performing other tasks in every way possible to enhance the shopping experience.
- Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call, including taking product orders.
- Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Ensure department standards are met: review the status and appearance of product for freshness and pull by stale date.
- Ensure display case product is rotated and replenished.
- Prepare cutting lists for case fills.
- Offer meal solutions and give advice on preparation to customers.
- Handle and satisfy customer issues.
- Conduct cutting tests.
- Order new items (not strictly replenishment).
- Ensure proper temperatures and storage procedures are maintained to guarantee freshness and control shrink of product.
- Train new employees.
- Tenderize, grind, and cut merchandise.
- Understand and practice proper sanitation procedures and ensure the work area is always clean and neat, and maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
- Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines.
- Report to work when scheduled and on time.
- Assume management duties in absence of the Department Manager.
- Wrap, weigh, and label product.
- Perform cleaning in the department.
- Provide input on goals and pricing.
- Assist in other areas of store as needed.
- Perform other job related duties and special projects as required.
Instruct, assign, review and plan the work of others. Maintain standards, coordinate activities, and allocate personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker CharacteristicsAbility to solve practical problems with limited standardization; interpret instructions; do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages; file, post, and mail materials; copy data from one record to another; interview to obtain basic information; guide people and provide basic direction.
Education and ExperienceHigh School or equivalent. Computer meat program, Hy‑Vee food safety training, Cornell Home Study food safety course (Effective 03/07/96), Dale Carnegie training encouraged. Over one year of related work experience preferred.
Physical Requirements- Must be physically able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; 50 pounds frequently; 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
