Instrumentation Technician II

As an Instrumentation Technician II, you will perform a broad range of troubleshooting and repair services on electronic instrumentation used in large industrial automation projects. Your duties will include:

• Installing, calibrating, testing, and commissioning instrumentation and automation systems.
• Troubleshooting instrumentation functionality and I/O operations.
• Repairing equipment, often using a variety of meters and tools.
• Setting up new instrumentation and calibrating specifications with reference to schematics and drawings.
• Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
• Assisting with installation and maintenance projects for automated large industrial processes.
• Using computerized equipment and software to perform testing functions and produce reports.
• Collaborating with engineers on the testing and commissioning of PLC systems.
• Traveling to customer sites as required.

Applicants should meet the following qualifications:

• 4 years of experience as an instrumentation technician.
• Technical knowledge of AC and DC drives.
• Understanding of speed feedback devices theory and operation.
• Knowledge of temperature control systems and components.
• Proficiency with PID and control loops.
• Understanding of Ethernet communications and connections.
• Proficiency in PLC and HMI systems, including communications drivers and program navigation.
• Solid grasp of all electrical components and electronic devices.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose defective components, motors, drives, and electronic parts.
• Dexterity with diagnostic equipment.

Physical requirements and work environment expectations vary by position. Typical duties may involve moderate noise, occasional exposure to outdoor weather, use of heights or airborne particles, and handling of electrical components. Physical activities may include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, as well as the use of hands, arms, and voice communication. Lifting or moving up to 50 pounds may be required.
