Opportunity

Overview

The Innovation Lab is an advanced R&D team that is part of the Semiconductor Test Division  have a dual charter to technically support the growth of the division and company:

  • Create long term differentiated solutions for our core Semiconductor Test business by exploring new technologies and architectures to be applied against current and emerging key requirements for our customers.
  • Working with our Business Development Office, develop differentiated solutions to new business opportunities that are relatively adjacent to our core business. These will generally enable new businesses within our existing customer base.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be involved in the product definition and development of optical test solutions for emerging markets, such as micro

LED. This role is an integral part of a dynamic, cross‑functional team dedicated to developing innovative solutions for emerging markets within semiconductor test. Our team fosters a collaborative culture that encourages contributions across a broad range of disciplines. You’ll be hands‑on throughout the project lifecycle and supported by engineers across the organization to help bring your ideas to life.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies from concept through release
  • Translate product and system requirements into detailed mechanical designs and drawings
  • Perform analyses and calculations to support design decisions (structural, thermal, tolerance, etc.)
  • Apply GD&T and best practices for robust, producible designs
  • Support prototype builds, testing, failure analysis, and design iteration, as well as troubleshoot and resolve complex design, manufacturing, and field issues
  • Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, and engineering documentation
  • Participate in and lead design reviews (peer, preliminary, critical)
  • Partner with optical, software, systems, manufacturing, and supply chain teams, as well as suppliers on component design, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and product development
  • Demonstrated experience taking designs from concept through production
  • Experience working with E/M packaging layout and design; including sheet metal, plastics, cabling, PC packaging, and manufacturing processes knowledge.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., Solid Works) and PDM/PLM systems, as well as GD&T, tolerancing, and drawing standards
  • Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA)
  • Familiarity with test methods, validation, and root cause analysis

    Experience leading technical work on multi‑disciplinary teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Comfortable balancing technical rigor with schedule and business constraints
Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $121,700- $194,700. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan

This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
