Opportunity OverviewThe New Product Planning Manager plays a critical role in enabling successful new product introductions by leading planning and procurement strategies from prototype through production release. This position partners across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and global manufacturing teams to ensure material readiness, supplier alignment, and execution against program milestones. The role is central to building scalable planning processes, mitigating supply risk, and supporting operational excellence in complex PCBA and electro‑mechanical environments.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management- Supervise, develop, and evaluate a team of New Product Planners and Buyers.
- Assign workloads, set priorities, and ensure alignment with program and organizational objectives.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and support professional development.
- Oversee planning and management of multi‑level Bills of Materials for complex electro‑mechanical and PCBA‑based products.
- Ensure timely material availability for prototype, pilot, and production builds.
- Direct procurement activities for prototype materials, including quoting, sourcing, and supplier engagement.
- Review and approve risk‑buy recommendations, lead‑time assessments, and inventory strategies.
- Coordinate closely with PCBA suppliers to ensure component readiness, manage long‑lead items, and mitigate allocation risks.
- Partner with Engineering to evaluate product structure, material requirements, and make‑versus‑buy decisions.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing—including PCBA assembly partners—to support build readiness and resolve material‑related issues.
- Provide regular updates to program senior management and leadership on material status, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Manage relationships with global suppliers and contract manufacturers to support NPI material needs, including PCBA fabrication and assembly vendors.
- Oversee resolution of RMAs, rework, quality issues, and engineering change impacts.
- Support the transition of planning responsibilities to contract manufacturers as products mature.
- Ensure accurate and timely release of work orders and material transactions within the MRP/ERP system.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance planning accuracy, communication, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, supply chain standards, and documentation requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Overall 10+ years of experience.
- 5+ years of experience in material planning, procurement, or supply chain management in complex manufacturing or NPI environments.
- Hands‑on experience with electro‑mechanical products and PCBA manufacturing, including component‑level planning and supplier coordination.
- Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and advanced Excel skills for data analysis and planning execution.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams or cross‑functional initiatives, with strong coaching, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Experience working with global suppliers, contract manufacturers, and engineering change processes is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast‑paced, high‑mix, low‑volume environment.
- Familiarity with prototype builds, production transitions, and risk mitigation for long‑lead materials preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
The base salary range for this role is $138,900-$222,300. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set.
Incentive PlanThis job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
