As an Accountant 2 with the Delaware County Department of Human Services, you will play a key part in supporting programs that help residents across the county. This role is ideal for someone who likes solving problems, reviewing financial data, and keeping detailed records. ResponsibilitiesThis position supports fiscal oversight for the Health Choices program and helps ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. Work includes tracking budgets, reviewing invoices, preparing reports, and maintaining communication with state, county, and provider partners. As an Accountant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Budget Setup: Establish program budgets and statutory reporting requirements in the accounting system.
- Invoice Review: Check invoices for accuracy, contract compliance, and proper support before approval.
- Financial Monitoring: Analyze ledger activity, track revenue and expenses, and correct unusual or miscoded items.
- Report Preparation: Create required quarterly, annual, and management reports for state and county use.
- Year End Reconciliation: Compare system reports with state reports and resolve any differences.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to financial covenants, performance ratios, and solvency requirements.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Accountant I; or
- Two years of professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four‑year college or university, including or supplemented by 15 credits in accounting.
- Four years of bookkeeping experience and 18 college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation.
Other Requirements:
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
