As Service Manager, you’ll be the person who turns safety standards, customer promises, and technician expertise into real‑world outcomes every single day. Your leadership directly impacts whether customers feel confident in their propane systems and whether technicians go home safe at the end of each shift. If you care deeply about safety, operational excellence, and building teams that customers trust, this role gives you real accountability and real influence.

About WOC Energy

For more than six decades, WOC Energy has been a trusted provider of heating fuel to our local communities. Since 1958, we’ve built our reputation on delivering reliable, high‑quality fuel and exceptional customer service. We take pride in offering competitive pricing, customized automatic delivery schedules based on real customer usage, and dependable service our customers count on year‑round. Our team supplies both liquefied petroleum (LP) gas and conventional heating oil, supporting everything from home heating systems to water heaters, dryers, pool heaters, grills, and fireplaces.

When you join WOC Energy, you become part of a company with deep roots, a strong future, and a commitment to serving customers the right way.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

Within your first 90 days, you’ll have a well‑organized service operation where technicians know their schedules in advance, service tickets are completed accurately and on time, inventory is controlled with minimal waste, and safety procedures are consistently followed. Your team will know what “great work” looks like and customers will feel it through reliable service and clear communication.

What You’ll Actually Do in Your First 30 Days
  • Get to know your service technicians and office staff through ride‑alongs, one‑on‑ones, and observing day‑to‑day operations
  • Review current safety procedures, training records, and compliance requirements, identifying any immediate gaps
  • Learn EDP’s dispatching, work order, and inventory systems and begin improving scheduling accuracy
  • Partner with the General Manager to understand hiring needs, customer priorities, and profitability goals for the service department
What You’ll Do
  • Lead a service team of 2–3 office staff and 6–12 service technicians with a clear focus on safety, quality, and accountability
  • Plan, estimate, and oversee new customer installations from start to finish
  • Create, prioritize, schedule, and dispatch service work orders to balance urgent needs and planned work
  • Manage service parts and appliance inventory to reduce waste and improve ROI
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and provide ongoing safety training to ensure compliance
  • Review documentation and paperwork to ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness
  • Support the General Manager with hiring, performance evaluations, sales support, and customer retention efforts
Must Have
  • 3+ years of hands‑on Service Technician experience in the propane or heating oil industry
  • Prior experience leading or supervising technical teams
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety procedures and regulatory compliance
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe, clean driving record
  • Ability to quickly learn and maintain required technical credentials
Nice to Have
  • CDL license
  • Experience managing service department budgets, inventory, or profitability metrics
  • Experience coordinating installations and large service projects
  • Comfort supporting sales and customer retention initiatives

Salary: $70,000–$90,000 annually, depending on experience

In addition to competitive pay, EDP offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you and your family, including medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA options, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, propane discounts, and employer‑paid life and disability coverage.
