Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you an experienced Coffee Trader with an established network, ready to build meaningful relationships, expand a profitable trade book, and make your mark in one of the world’s most dynamic commodity markets? Then make a smarter move and unleash your potential as a Coffee Trader at Frey.

Role & Responsibilities

As a Coffee Trader at Frey, you will build and manage our coffee trading footprint across the US market, directly shaping commercial strategy and execution. Reporting to the Coffee Trade Manager, you will leverage your network to grow our buyer base, coordinate with the London Trade Desk on pipeline and origination, and champion best-practice workflows from contract to post-trade. Your work will be central to Frey’s growth ambitions in one of the world’s most important coffee markets.

Main responsibilities:
  • Build and manage a profitable trade book across the US market, monitoring daily P&L and managing hedging and futures exposure.
  • Leverage and expand your network to grow Frey’s buyer base, securing consistent demand pipelines and long‑term strategic relationships.
  • Coordinate with the Trade Desk in London on pipeline prioritization, new‑origin initiatives, and market intelligence.
  • Adhere to Frey’s risk mandates and governance frameworks, proactively mitigating coffee‑specific risks and ensuring contract compliance.
  • Champion data‑driven workflows and continuous improvement, driving efficiency and data integrity across the desk.
Expected skills & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Green Coffee Trader, with an established network of buyers and/or suppliers in the US market.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing P&L, hedging/futures exposure, and trade execution.
  • Deep understanding of the coffee supply chain, from origin relationships to destination delivery, particularly across Central and South American origins.
  • Experience with contract management, trade documentation, and post‑trade processes.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Eagerness to collaborate across global teams, including working closely with a London‑based Trade Desk.

You will be expected to travel occasionally (30‑90 days per year) to meet clients, suppliers, and partners, while actively participating in cross‑functional projects and data initiatives. You should approach your work with a hands‑on, entrepreneurial mindset, contribute to shaping Frey’s scale‑up operations, and embrace continuous learning. Success in this role means combining sharp market instincts with Frey’s data‑driven, transparent approach to commodity trading.
