THE POSITION
Are you a driven professional eager to apply your expertise and experience in teaching valuable trade skills to others as a Corrections General Industries Factory Foreperson with the Department of Corrections? In this position, you will guide inmate workers through hands‑on production activities while helping them develop confidence and workplace abilities. You will support safe, organized operations that keep the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Waymart Correctional Industries (CI) Garment Plant running smoothly.
DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position oversees production activities within the SCI Waymart CI Garment Plant by training and guiding inmate workers in manufacturing tasks. It supports safe operations, accurate record‑keeping, and the overall efficiency of factory processes.
- Worker Training:
Instruct inmate workers in production methods, equipment use, and computer‑based reporting. - Safety Oversight:
Maintain secure work areas, monitor inmate movement, and enforce tool and supply controls. - Operational Monitoring:
Use SAP to track orders, inventory, and production activity for smooth operations. - Process Improvement:
Review records and recommend updates to equipment or production methods. - Administrative Tasks:
Submit attendance records, contribute to progress reports, and complete required documentation.
- Full‑time employment, 40‑hour work week.
- Work hours:
7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday‑Friday. - This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework:
Not applicable for this position. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,036.00 (before taxes).
- Three years of experience in the production of goods or services; or
- An associate degree in industrial technology, operations management, business administration, or a related field; and one year of work experience in the production of goods or services; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of work experience in the production of goods or services.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
