THE POSITION

This position supports the safe and efficient operation of the boiler plant at SCI Dallas by maintaining equipment, monitoring system performance, and assisting with inmate work crews. As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will perform the following duties:
- Boiler Operation:
Monitor and maintain three large steam boilers under normal and emergency conditions - Auxiliary Systems:
Operate and maintain pumps, fans, chemical systems, and other support equipment - Water Testing:
Test boiler water chemistry and keep accurate logs of all results and chemical inventories - Work Crew Oversight:
Guide inmate workers, ensure safety, enforce policies, and maintain secure tool control - Plant Care:
Complete housekeeping tasks, conduct inventories, and maintain a clean and organized work area

WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION- Full-time employment, 40‑hour work week
- Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with rotating days off.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

You will not have the option to telework in this position. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement. - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. - Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
